World Premiere Music Video: "The Ghost in You"
Koot Hoomi (Lurie/Callahan) reimagine the Psychedelic Furs classic for the forthcoming "Listening to 1984" LP.
Dear friends,
I’m very excited to share with you the second song/video from the Listening to 1984 LP, this one a collaboration with my outrageously talented co-producer and friend Darren Callahan. Without further ado, here is our reinterpretation of the Psychedelic Furs’ “The Ghost in You”:
If you’re just coming onboard, the Listening to 1984 limited-edition LP will likely be out sometime early next year. Paid subscribers are entitled to a free copy (postage-paid if you reside in the US). And yes, there will be a streaming version.
And if you missed our first video release, the Loud Bangs’ version of the Church’s “Constant in Opal,” you can watch it here.
As for this video, I put it together with assistance from a site called Rotor Videos, selecting and feeding public domain footage into a randomizer that utilizes some kind of subtle AI technology to synch the images up with the music. While I have mixed feelings about our rush toward the Matrix (erm, AI), I’m beguiled by the juxtapositions this tool comes up with. (And yes, I know this footage is not 1984-vintage, but these are the images that seemed to go best with the material.)
Stay tuned for further updates!
